Beware of the red scanner! Cylons will conquer your browser – in an online game just announced by Bigpoint!

Bigpoint hit the jackpot: the Hamburg-based company will implement an online game for “Battlestar Galactica”. The game is supposed to be a free-to-play title enabling the user to fight space wars and do other activities. In contrast to the latest one-person space adventures such as “Star Trek Online”, the Galactica universe can be explored in a browser, without additional software installation or purchase. The game will be based on the Unity Technologies 3D-engine.

Rollout is scheduled for late summer this year and we can’t wait. Really!

Bigpoint already does smaller games for various NBC-websites. However, the newly announced Battlestar Galactica game is a large-scale project, which should finally catapult Bigpoint across the Atlantic. Just a few weeks ago, the company opened an office in San Francisco.
